Abstract
In this study, comparative treatment approaches were evaluated between the two clinically gingivitis diagnosed cat groups by using amoxicillin and trimethoprim drugs. To begin with, a number of 22 cats were divided into two groups, regardless of age, gender and breed. Severity of the disease in each individual in both groups was determined by clinical examination using gingival index. The first group received amoxicillin and clavulonic acid (amoxicillin 7 mg + clavunolic acid 1.75 mg, subcutaneous, kg/body weight) while the second group was administered trimethoprim and sulfadimethyl (trimethoprim 4 mg + sulfadimethylpyrimidine 20 mg, subcutaneous, kg/body weight). The results demonstrated that there was no marked difference between the groups in terms of the treatment process. It was thought that this finding might be a valuable data for practitioners in small animal practice.
