Abstract
Molecular detection of Coxiella burnetii from cow abortions was aimed in this study. One hundred aborted cow foetuses were investigated. DNA extraction was done from foetal tissues (foetal liver and spleen). Primers C.B.-1 (5 -ACT CAA CGC ACT GGA ACC GC-3 ) and C.B.-2 (5 -TAG CTG AAG CCA ATT CGC C-3 ) were used for determination of Coxiella burnetii. Coxiella burnetii was found to be positive by amplification and imaging in the 6 out of 100 samples. As a result, the presence of Coxiella burnetii should be taken into account for cow abortions in the vicinity of Erzurum.
