Abstract :
The aim of this study was to define and classify the findings about liver lesions seen in cattle slaughtered in Erzurum. In this research, different liver lesions were determined in 100 (7.24%) out of 1381 liver samples examined. During the evaluation of livers having lesions, there were 11% of abscess, 21% of fibrous tissue proliferation and cirrhosis, 38% of necrosis in different areas and sizes, 4% of lipidosis, 56% of hydropic degeneration and fuzzy swelling, 17% of hyperaemia and haemorrhage, and 9% of pigmentation. In bile ducts, 28% of hyperplasia and 32% cholangiohepatitis were found. Also, the parasitic cases (of 27%) were caused by Echinococcosis (18%), Fascioliosis (5%) and Dicrocoeliosis (4%). By this research, the parasitic cases and especially the echinococcosis were seen most commonly between the diseases causing to lesions on the liver in this region.
