Abstract :
The effects of Fibrin Adhesive (Tisseel-tissue adhesive) in corneal wounds were investigated in dogs. A 0.02-0.05 ml Tisseel was applied onto the incision area (2, 5, 7, 11 mm length) in dog model. Conjunctival flapping, suture applications, contact lens placement and tharsorraphy were performed in the control groups. To evaluate the corneal wound healing, the clinical controls were conducted during 2 months and after this period histological examinations were carried out. It was detected that the corneal wound healing with Tisseel was similar with simple suture pattern. It was determined that Tisseel could be an alternative method in cases not suitable for sutures.
