Abstract :
Intestinal lymphangiectasia occurs as a result of obstruction or dysfunction of intestinal lymphatic circulation and characterized by hypoproteinemia. In this case report intestinal lymphangiectasia identified in a 4-year old female Setter breed dog with the complaints of chronic diarrhoea and weight loss. Lymphopenia together with hypoproteinemia and hypocholesterolemia was detected in the haematological and biochemical analysis. Although the dog did not respond to the symptomatic and supportive treatment and died 2 months after the treatment started. As a result, this case has shown that intestinal lymphangiectasia should be considered in dogs in the diagnosis of diseases associated with chronic diarrhoea however, it was concluded that especially in cases of delayed diagnosis and treatment, the prognosis could be worse.
