Abstract :
In the present study the aim was to evaluate short-term efficacy of clinoptilolite administration in Holstein cows, on limitedly selected biochemical parameters. A total of 21 head black Holstein cow raised in a cattle entrepreneur in Aydin municipality, were evaluated in 3 different groups (n=7 in each) as control, clinoptilolite I and clinoptilolite II with the foodstuff composed of 0 %, 3 % and 4 % clinoptilolite involved feed mixture. Prior to the trial, a 15 days period for ration adaptation was achieved. Monthly visit to the farm was deemed establishment of each cow presenting period (early lactation, mid-lactation, and late lactation). In an attempt to detect the efficacy of clinoptilolite on relevant biochemical parameters, a total of 4 times blood was withdrawn from each animal at ration adaptation period, early lactation, mid-lactation, and at the end. Taking into account mean AST values, there were significant differences between control and cl II groups (P 0.001), and between cl I and cl II (P 0.001) groups on ration adaptation and early lactation periods. Regarding mean ALT values solely there was a significant difference, in which was aroused from ration adaptation within early lactation (P 0.001), and between early lactation within mid lactation periods (P 0.001). In conclusion, it was suggested that short-term 3% and 4% clinoptilolite supplementation affected aminotransferase enzymes.
