Abstract
In this study, the storms between 1970 and 2016 the 10 meteorological stations in Istanbul were investigated. It has been determined 301 days in 47 years period as stormy days. When we evaluated seasonally, 60.1% of the storms occured in winter, 12.6% in spring, 4.0% in summer and 23.3% in autumn. The average number of stormy days is 6.4 per year for a 47 year period. The value of the gust wind measured with a maximum wind speed of 32.9 m/s was at the Şile Meteorology Station. There is a linear decreasing trend in the number of stormy days and intensity of the storms within the study period.
