  • Abstract
During the loading tests with model foundations, it is not possible to see the failure surfaces with the naked eye when the limit bearing capacity is reached and it is necessary to continue the test for a while to see the failure surfaces. In this case, since the failure surfaces determined by the naked eye are not actually the surfaces corresponding to the failure moment, the measured failure geometry does not reflect the actual situation. The purpose of this study is to continuously monitor the failure surfaces from the beginning to the end of the loading with the photogrammetry technique. For this purpose, tests were carried out and photogrammetrically monitored according to different factors affecting the bearing capacity on strip foundations sitting on geogrid reinforced sand and unreinforced sand. The photographs taken in the tests were evaluated by digital photogrammetry technique and their coordinates were determined by the shear surfaces were digitized. The shear surfaces formed on the reinforced and unreinforced soils with this technique have been determined more accurately.
