Abstract :
President of the Republic of Turkey was elected by the people for the first time in 2014. Previous presidents of the republic, with indirect ways of representing the nation will have been selected by the nation s representatives. Although by way of indirect representation in the presidential election have used the will of the people, unfortunately, the balance of power in the election period, and have been included in the electoral process and the will of the people remained in the background. The Republic of Turkey in 2007 until the changes to the Constitution, the President was elected by parliament once for seven years. However, amendments to the Constitution in 2007 president it was decided to select a maximum of two terms of 5 years by the people. In addition, the selection process, the conditions for a candidate, the election process and was in serious changes. In this study, this selection scheme which is different from each other and their differences and principles which dominates the presidential election will be explained.
