Abstract :
Sarcoidosis is a systemic granulomatous disease which principally involves the pulmonary and lymphatic systems. However, such a formal definition of sarcoidosis is simplistic since it can resemble many other diagnoses and may therefore have ‘a thousand faces’. In this issue of SQUMJ, Chappity et al. describe an atypical case of Heerfordt’s syndrome and discuss findings from a systematic review of the literature over the last 10 years.1 Heerfordt’s syndrome is an atypical manifestation of acute sarcoidosis presenting with fever, uveitis and swelling of the parotid glands and, most often, unilateral facial nerve palsy.
