Abstract :
Conjoined twins are rarely seen in medical practice, and the incidence is reported as 1 in 50.000 to 1 in 100.000 live births; 60% of these die in utero or are stillborn. The thoracopagus is the most common type, accounting for 40% of all conjoined twins cases. Thoracopagus conjoined twins have the highest incidence of cardiovascular abnormalities; they may have cardiac abnormalities in any type of fusion, and 90% of these twins share a common pericardial sac. The type of cardiac fusion is a critical factor for mortality.
