Abstract :
Based on the statistics released by the Syarie Lawyers Association ofMalaysia in 2012 shows that an increase rate of muslim conversion is a total of 76, 663 people between 2002 until the year 2010, thus, it is proving good acceptance of Islam from the non-Muslims. Those who recently embraced Islam in ‘urf ’ called convert and has the right in shares of zakat. However, the question arises in connection with the determination limit call duration that does not convert the uniform among the states in Malaysia especially in terms of relevance is used converts calls to those who have decades converts to Islam. Convert call duration limit differences are also impact the distribution of alms to convert. The purpose of the article is to identify the limitations period convert set by the States in Malaysia and to analyse and identify the index measure for determination of the appropriate period of limitation apply to convert in Malaysia. The study found that there is no uniformity among the States in determining the limitation period of the convert. Thus, the study suggests a limit period of up to eight(8) years to measure the understanding, strengthening and stability of one’s Islamic convert by looking at an individual’s transition period from the age of puberty mumayyiz so that a period of learning and understanding knowledge of religion before Islam put the responsibility completely to on the individual. Determining an index measuring the conversion period had in Malaysia is important to distinguish the truly understand Islam convert which would help in terms of consistency channeling of aid distribution of zakat for converts.
