THE MANUSCRIPTS OF AL-JAWHARAH AL-MUNĪFAH: AN INTRODUCTION AND ANALYSIS OF MĀTURIDI’S THEOLOGICAL THOUGHT

This paper aims to explore an important work on commentary of Waṣiyyah Abī Ḥanīfah by Mullā Ḥusayn bin Iskandar al-Ḥanafī. The Waṣiyyah Abī Ḥanīfah was known as one of the greatest and earliest treatise in ‘aqīdah. This great work of Mullā Ḥusayn comprised a compact and comprehensive discussion that summarized previous commentaries by other scholars. This work also clearly and perfectly explained the thoughts of al-Imam Abū Ḥanīfa on basic issues of ‘aqīdah Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamā‘ah. It discussed the topic of īmān and ‘amal, ma‘rifat Allah as well as al-sam‘iyyāt. It is hoped that this study will introduce this great work namely al-Jawharah al-Munīfah to researchers as an important treatise in explaining the ‘aqīdah Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamā‘ah from al- Māturidī’s scholars.
