Abstract :
Aim: This research was carried out as descriptive to determine conflict communication approaches of nursing students and factors influencing these approaches. Material and Method: 181 students from a state university faculty of health sciences nursing department constituted the study sample. “Student Data Form” and “Conflict Communication Scale” which was developed by Goldstein were used for data collection. Percentage, arithmetic mean, significance between two means test (t test) and One Way Variance Analysis (ANOVA) were used for data analysis. Results: According to study results; mostly used conflict resolution approaches by students were emotional expression, confrontation and self-disclosure. It is identified that as students’ ages and classes are increased, their emotional expression approach usage was also increased. Students whose fathers were literate, were using emotional expression, confrontation and public/private behaviour at least. Usage of emotional expression and self-disclosure were higher in students having nuclear family than students having extended family. Not working students were using public behavior more than others. Conclusion: Students were using emotional expression, confrontation and self-disclosure mostly for conflict resolution. These conflict communication approaches can be valued as positive and efficient. Thus, sustaining and continuing usage of them by students can be suggested
