Abstract :
Today there is a number of pregnant women who is receiving medical care for a high risk pregnancy that includes a limitation in their activities. The significant health problem of a high risk pregnancy that threatens the health of the mother and infant has physiologic, social, emotional and economic dimensions. Care of these women in the hospital, compared to caring for them at home, has many more negative effects. In recent years in developed countries an increase in new technology that can be used in the home has decreased health care expenses, made patients more aware and increased their desire to participate in their own care, and has increased the speed with which women in high risk pregnancies are able to leave the hospital and go home. The health of the mother with a high risk pregnancy and the fetus, the health care personnel who will provide their care and the family’s psychological, social and economic resources are taken into consideration when the mother is sent home. Care that is provided by midwiferies with specialized training in home care of high risk pregnancies can improve results for the pregnant women, their infants and their families.
