Abstract
Objective: Study was conducted to determine the nursing students` experiences of violence and views about violence. Method: This descriptive study was conducted with third-year 110 nursing students enrolled in 2012-2013 academic year. A questionnaire form developed by the researcher, was used for data collection.Results: Of the participants 18.4% of female students and 17.4% of male students reported an exposure to physical violence. While female students were generally exposed to violence from their fathers and brothers, male students were exposed to violence from their peers and other people. 25.3% female, 21.7% male students claimed that they exposed to emotional violence. While no sexual violence was determined among male students, 2.3% of female students stated that they were exposed to molestation. Conclusion: Young adults were exposed to domestic violence, accompanied violence from friends. Studies are needed to raise the awareness and improve knowledge about violence prevention, legal processes and their rights.
