Abstract :
Aim: Study conducted as a descriptive study to determine Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients` treatment adherence. Method: Sample group composed of 157 Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients who admitted to Endocrine and Diabetic center of a State Hospital. Data of study was collected with data form, and percentage, chi square and students t test were used for data analysis. Results: Mean age of the patients was 60.7±22.5, majority was woman and married. More than half of the patients declared their treatment adherence as well. For treatment 56.7% of patients were using oral antidiabetics, and 43.3% of them insulin. 25% of the patients reported hypoglycemia problem at least one time in last month. In terms of microvascular complications, 23.6% of patients reported retinopathy, 13.3% of them nephropathy, 40.1% of them neuropathy, and 45.2% of them burning and numbling in feet. Conclusion: Most of our study patients don’t have diabetes educationd, and their adherence to drug, diet and exercise treatment was poor. Therefore, increase in training programs related with disease and follow up of patients were recommended.
