Effect of Education Administered to Pregnants in Third Trimester on Level of Readiness for Postpartum Discharge

Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of planned education given to pregnancies during the third trimester of pregnancy on postoperative levels of postpartumdischarge.Materials and Methods: The study is the intervention type with post test control group.Data were collected using the data collection form prepared by the researchers and thePreparedness Scale for Hospital Dispatch - Newborn Mother Form. Statistical analyzes wereperformed using the SPSS 10.0 package program. For the scale score, mean and standarddeviation, for the fertility characteristics of women; number-percentage is used. For the scalemarkers, multiple regression analysis methods have been used and evaluated. Before theresearch, approval of the ethics committee from the Ethics Committee of Selcuk UniversityFaculty of Medicine, the permission of the Konya Education and Research Hospital takenwith examining the process to the pregnant women in the intervention and control group.Results: The intervention (M) and control (K) groups have similar characteristics. It wasdetermined that, in the early discharge group, 54.3% of the M group and 45.7% of the controlgroup were ready, meaning that the scale point differences were significant and that theeducation level was an important determinant of the scale score.Conclusion: It has been determined that the planned education given to the pregnanciesduring the third trimester of pregnancy is an effective attempt to increase the readiness forpostpartum discharge.
