Abstract :
In studies aiming to determine attitudes in the field of health, generally, measurement tools developed abroad and adapted to Turkish are used as measurement tools. Even if the scale developed in another culture has been adapted to Turkish, it is a significant disadvantage that it is not suitable for Turkish culture. This disadvantage leads to the necessity for researchers to develop measurement tools they need in the health field. The development of a new and original measurement tool is seen as a challenging work because it involves complex processes. Among the scaling methods, using Likert Type Scaling Technique is preferred because it is easier to develop than other methods. In this article, the development steps of the Likert Type Attitude Scale, which is the most widely used scaling method in health sciences, will be discussed. This article is expected to contribute to the development of valid and reliable new measurement tools by researchers in the health field.
