Evaluation and Selection of a Fleet of Aircraft for a Local Airline

Abstract. The present work simulates the evaluation and selection of afleet of aircraft for an airline located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in anassumed network that includes both local and international destinations.This is carried out through a series of phases and subsequent levels ofanalysis. At the end of these phases some recommendations are givenfor selecting the suitable fleet. The phases are simulated using MSExcel and the output of the study predicts both the aircraft efficiencyand its contribution to the net profit of the airline. With the given rangeand payload a number of candidate aircraft has been chosen for thestudy. Finally, it was found from the study that 11 of the EMB145aircraft would be the best choice for the proposed airline.
