Abstract :
In the present work, an epoxy / Al2O3 nanocomposite was prepared A semi-converter is commonly used in industrial applications. It is cheaper than the full-converter and provides better performance. Series motors are extensively used for constant-hosepower applications. Their armature currents tend to be smoother than that of separately excited motors. This paper is concerned with the detailed study of performance characteristics of an ac-dc semi-converter supplying two DC series motors. In this case, new analysis and study need to be developed. The converter-motors combination is simulated on a digital computer. Expressions for motor current ripple factor, supply current distortion factor , input displacement, and input power factors have been derived and studied for both constant firing angle and constant horsepower operation. It has been found that decreasing the firing angle (while the motors speeds are kept constant ) increases displacement, distortion, and the input power factors and decreases the current ripple factors of motors. Increasing speed of any motor (while the horsepower level is kept constant ) increases the displacement, distortion, and the input power factors.
