Abstract :
ABSTRACT. Three forms of waste water namely; untreated, secondarytreated and finally treated beside tap water, as a control, were used toirrigate Delonix elata (L.) Gamble plant for 103 days. Some growthparameters as pigment content of the leaves (chlorophyll a, b and carotenoids),shoot and root systems lengths and leaf area, as well asfresh and dry weight of the root and shoot systems were detected. Also, some plant metabolites as total proteins, total amino acids andorganic matter content were also estimated. The untreated waste waterhad a lethal effect on D. elata plants at age of 103 days. Finally treatedwaste water was the best tested water for pigment formation by theplant leaves. Whereas tap water was responsible for the highest valuesof shoot and root systems lengths and leaf area, as well as, for freshand dry weight of plant systems. However, secondary treated wastewater was the prime for the production of D. elata metabolites of totalproteins, total amino acids and organic matter.
