Abstract :
Abstract. This work aimed to forecasting UV-B radiation over Aswan(32.78ºE, 23.97ºN) by deducing an empirical formula relating UV-Bradiation with the global solar radiation and the total amount of ozone. The UV-B radiation forecast was produced in three steps. First, totalozone was estimated over Aswan using a regression relationshipbetween the thickness of two atmospheric layers and total ozone. Second, the residual method was used to deduce a formula relating theglobal solar radiation with surface atmospheric variables. Finally, thetotal ozone and global solar radiation were fed into the formula toobtain the UV-B radiation forecast. The above steps were applied onthe four seasons and also on the annual values. The highest strong correlationoccurred at autumn and winter for ozone while at spring andautumn for global solar radiation.
