Abstract :
Seeds of cucumber were cultivated under the influence ofdaily exposure to incandescent light originated from 100 W, 220 Vlamp (normal tungsten filament bulb). The seeds were divided intofive categories; 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 ms far from the lamp. Each category issubdivided into four groups and exposed to the lamp for (1/4, 1/2, 3/4and 1 hour daily). Seedlings are examined for plant lengths , plumule:radicle ratio, leaf colour, area and numbers, radicle shapes andsecondary roots status after 3 weeks of germination, while analysesfor fresh , dry weight , photosynthetic pigments and sugar contentscarried out after 45 days of plantation. The results revealed that plantlength, leaf area, fresh weight and photosynthetic pigments have beensignificantly affected, while sugar content and dry weight areinsignificantly affected by the exposure to the lamp. To show the mostoptimum distance and time of exposure for each investigated characterthe results were analyzed using Response Surface Analysis (RSA) andSpineFitting (SF) analysis and an ANN models
