Synthesis and Biotransformation of Some Halogenated Steroids by the Fungus Mucor plumbeus

Preparation of some chloro, bromo and iodo steroids derivedfrom testosterone and epiandrosterone is described. Thebiotransformation of halogenated products by fungus mucor plumbeusare preformed. Introduction of the halogen atom into the steroidsmoiety severely affected the biotransformation results.
