Abstract :
The aim of this study is to investigate the corrosion inhibition of amalgam alloy in artificial saliva solution using Punica granatum extract (P.g.e) in concentration range (5-20) ppm at temperatures range (288-318)K using electrochemical measurement. The inhibition efficiency IE% was found to increase with increase in (P.g) concentration (from 5 to 15) ppm and decreasing with using 20ppm (P.g.e),and IE% decreased with temperature increase. The (P.g.e) acts as mixed inhibitor according to the corrosion potentials Ecorr shifted toward either noble or active direction in the presence of inhibitor. The adsorption of the extract molecules on the amalgam surface obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm and occurs spontaneously. The activation energy as well as other thermodynamic parameters for the inhibition process was calculated.
