Abstract :
TiCI3(OTf) catalyzed efficiently the protection of aromatic aldehydes with acetic anhydride in the absence of solvent at room temperature with excellent yields. By this method, aliphatic aldehydes were also converted to their corresponding acylals, in the presence of a mixture of acetic anhydride and acetic acid at high yields
