Abstract :
The aim of this study was to evaluate of quality of life of hearing impaired children and to compare the health-related quality of life scores of hearing impaired and normal hearing children. The study, which is planned descriptive, total 136 children between the age of 8-12 and 68 of them hearing impaired, 68 of them normal hearing parcipated. The data of the study are collected by Kid-KINDL life quality scale and child and family information form. The total life quality of the hearing impaired children is found as 68.5 and healthy ones are 78.9 and this finding was statistically significant (p 0.05). Emotional well-being, self esteem, family, school subscale scores of the hearing impaired children are significantly lower when compared with the normal hearing children. These findings indicate that severe hearing impairment effects the children’s quality of life. It is important that children with hearing impairment should be supported in every area of life.
