Abstract :
Vitiligo is characterized by the appearance of patchy discoloration evident in the form of typical chalky-white or milky macules. Vitiligo can appear at any age. However, in 50% of the patients with vitiligo, the disease is seen before 20 years of age. Although vitiligo may occur anywhere on the body, there are characteristic patterns of involvoment, including the face , dorsal aspect of hands, nipples, axillae, umbilicus, sacrum, and inguinal and anogenital regions. Although vitiligo is generally considered as a cosmetic problem, its effect on the psychological well-being of the patient should not be neglected. Vitiligo, significantly effected on social functions such as the patient’s psychological health and especially interpersonal relationships. The life quality of the patients can be improved with the theraphy by the holistic nursing approach in patient treatment.
