GRADUATE THESIS INVESTIGATION OF THE CHILD DEVELOPMENT IN TURKEY

The aim of this study is to analyze the theses and dissertations on child development in Turkey from the perspectives as; the year of the study, university, institute, department, type of the study, participants’ age group, identifying the subject of the study, and suggestions for future studies in this field. With this aim the theses and dissertations indexed in Council of Higher Education Thesis Center and university libraries since 1970 in the fields of; Department of Child Development; Department of Child Development and Education;Department of Child Development and Health; Department of Child Development and Home Management Education; and Department of Home Economics (Child Development and Education) were selected. The findings of the study revealed that since 1970 most of the theses were MA theses, the most widely studied field was preschool education, and the most frequent research group was preschool children. Moreover the results showed that the least studied research group was infants; and the least studied research subject was development in infancy period and parent education.
