Abstract :
This paper takes its starting point from the question how Weber’s concepts “therationalization of the world” and “disenchantment” are considered in everyday life. Withthe attempt of understanding the rationalization of the world and its consequencesthrough the objects, this paper aims to examine the transformation of the house, whichused to be a space of production and beauty in the 19th century, into a space of efficiencywith the 20th century, through the reading of the innovations done for the user with thehelp of their consumption behaviors and patterns in their kitchens. In order to find thevalues that give direction to the consumption patterns and ideas on consumption in thesociety, the advertisements of the electronic household goods have been chosen foranalysis and the expressions that are used in the advertisements and the promotion ofthese products will be analyzed in the light of the discussions on the concepts“rationalization of the world” and “enchantment”.
