Abstract :
This study examines the relationship between media and memory studies. Both disciplines having emerged and institutionalized in last four decades bear a variety of parallels including the interdisciplinary charatcter of the two, their attempts to examine the dynamic structure of the meaning and their constructivist epistemology. In the first section of the study, the contextual intersections in the emergence of media and memory studies are examined. Collective memory the popular use of which overwhelmed the concept itself is briefly discussed in order to provide a basis for the following discussion. The study continues with discussions on the immanent connections bertween the two fields, the thematic trajectories in comtemporary studies conjoining media and memory and some conceptual expansions.
