Abstract :
2-Hydroxyquinoline undergoes a smooth reaction with dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylatcs in the presence of triphenylphosphine to produce the E/Z isomers of dialkyl 2-[2-oxo-1 (2H)quinolinyl]-2-butenedioates in high yields.
