Abstract :
Synthesis of iron oxide nano particles with various grain sizes has been achieved by spontaneous autocatalytic reduction in alcohol-water solution at room temperature. It was found that concentration of NaOH, hydrazine catalyst plays a critical role in the formation of resultant particles in pure phase. Investigations of different species revealed that, a complete and uniform composite without impurities can be obtained at a pH value of 12.5 which was supported by FTIR spectra analysis. The phase structures and morphologies ofthe Fe203 composite have been carried out using X- ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Data analysis of crystallography parameters indicates that nano particles were pure Fe203 crystalline with bee structure. Their average diameter sizes were 6.3-15 nm, where nano particle sizes increase with increase in temperature of the solution from 25°C to .·175°C. Also, SEM images of the samples showed spherical shaped iron nanocrystalline particles without aggregation were present only at pH =12.5.
