Abstract :
The reaction of uranyl(VI) sulfate with 15 semicarbazones derived from 4-amino antipyrine in the presence of tetramethylene sulfoxide (TMSO) resulted the complexes of the general composition [U02S04(L)*TMS0], where L = 4[N-(benzalidene) amino]antipyrine semicarbazone (BAAPS); 4 [N-(2 -hy droxybenzalidene)amino] antipyrine semicarbazone (HBAAPS); 4[N-(4 -methoxy benzalidene)amino]antipyrine semicarbazone (MBAAPS); 4[N-(2 -nitrobenzalidene)amino] antipyrine semicarbazone (2 -N02BAAPS); 4 [N-(3 -nitrobenzalidene)amino]antipyrine semicarbazone (3 - N02BAAPS); 4[N-(4 -nitrobenzalidene)amino]antipyrine semicarbazone (4 - N02BAAPS); 4[N-(4 -dimethylaminobenzalidene)amino]antipyrine semicarbazone (DABAAPS); 4[N-(4 -hydroxy-3 -methoxybenzalidene)amino]antipyrine semicarbazone (HMBAAPS); 4 [N-(2 -hydroxy-1 -naphthalidene)amino] antipyrine semicarbazone (HNAAPS); 4 [N-(cinnamalidene) amino] antipyrine semicarbazone (CAAPS); 4[N- (3 ,4 ,5 -trimethoxybenzalidene)amino]antipyrine semicarbazone (TMB AAPS); 4[N- (furfural)amino]antipyrine semicarbazone (FFAAPS); 4[N-(49-ethylbenzalidene)amino] antipyrine semicarbazone (EBAAPS); 4[N-(2,,4 -dimethylbenzalidene)amino]antipyrine semicarbazone (DMB AAPS); 4 [N-(2 ?45 -Dichlorobenzalidene)amino]antipyrine semicarbazone (DCBAAPS). All these complexes were characterized by means of elemental analysis, conductivity measurements, molecular weight, magnetic moments and infrared studies. The coordination number 8 is proposed for the complexes* Thermal properties of the representative complexes are also reported.
