Abstract :
Kalimantan is a valuable isolated land. In reality, this island that also known as Borneo is not an empty ancient land as claimed. There was a time, in 18^th till 19 centuries, the glitter of the gold especially in West Kalimantan once has brighten the island then make it as a gold valuable Kalimantan administrative. The large amount of gold exists in the West Kalimantan excite the local leader especially Panembahan Mempawah and Sultan Sambas, Sultan Umar Akkamuddin II that motivated them to invite a number of Chinese migrants to work on their gold mine which eventually gave a decent return to both involved government. Even though, the history of gold trading in West Kalimantan at that time is not as illustrious as in Singapore and in Batavia, however, the gold existence under the Chinese migrant management promised three things, namely victory, power and conflict which is a price to pay for the local society there as a result to the glittery gold. By using history approach in analysing Syair Perang Cina di Monterado, that specifically recorded conflict as said, result of this research indicated that a few of Chinese immigrant’s dishonest attitude has worsen the situation in West Kalimantan till become the starting point for indigenous society in West Kalimantan to resist.
