Abstract
The paper discusses one of the Tioman-Aur-Pemanggil Malay dialect (DMTAP), found on Pahang, namely the variant of Salang (VSLG). ). This dialect is said to be an almost dying dialect. Therefore, this study generally wants to collect data that is getting lost its use. The data collected could be reassessed the phonological aspects which have yet to be clarified on some of the DMTAP studies especially in determining the amount of phoneme inventory and variation determination in the DMTAP. Therefore, the objective in this paper is determining the amount of phoneme inventory. Therefore, this study aimed to describe how the phonological system DMTAP VSLG with displays spread vowel, diphthong and analysis the presence of alternation in this DMTAP VSLG. The approach used to achieve the objectives of this study is the structural approach. The results of the study show that DMTAP VSLG 8 vowels, 2 diphthongs and 18 consonant phonemes. Therefore, it is hoped that this study will solve all the problems that have arisen in the past studies and to preserve the identity of the Malay heritage through language.
