Abstract :
A new calix[4]arene derivative in 1,3-alt conformation containing thiourea moieties is synthesizedand examined for its anion binding ability by UV-Vis and 1H NMR studies. The results show that the receptorhas selective colorimetric sensing of cyanide over all other anions like fluoride, chloride, bromide, iodide,nitrate, hydrogen sulphate, dihydrogenphosphate and acetate
