Abstract :
A highly efficient, simple and rapid method for the chemoselective preparation of acylalsfrom aldehydes and acetic anhydride in the presence of a catalytic amount of poly (ethylene glycol)-bound sulfonic acid (PEG-SO3H) (1.67 mol%) at room temperature is described. Ketones do not react under these reaction conditions.
