Abstract :
It is believed that the first person to discover the application of electricity in medicine was the Persian physician, philosopher, and mathematician known as Avicenna (980-1037 AD). Around one thousand years ago, Avicenna succeeded in treatment of an army officer diagnosed with what we call now Parkinson s disease by means of the most natural source of electric shocks, Electrophorus Electricus, or simply the electric eel.
