Postmodern Signs In Religious Life Of Turkish Society

Religion and religiousity have been discussed with different dimensions. Specially, new phenomenons which came to agenda after 1980, affected social life in general, religious life in particular as versatile in Turkey. At that point we reached, some concepts like postmodernism, globalisation, pluralism, secularisation accompanied by modernism are discussed more than before in religious context; new problems/questions are came to agenda. Actually, under these conditions, it is needed to consider religious life; to give meaning to experienced new phenomenons. Postmodernism, no doubtedly, is a subject that is need to be discussed for the purpose of connections with experienced religious life. Consequently, we try to analyze concrete signs of experienced religious life and religiousity in connection with postmodernism s natures and qualifications; postmodern mentality s grades of influences and ways of signs in this paper. We think that this discussion is very important. Because postmodernizm have been discussed in philosophical way and as an abstract issue. So it will be come true to argue postmodernism s influences on religious values, religiousity, worships, understandings of religion and daily life with concrete signs. Before all else, we, in this article, want to support postmodernism s fundamental characterizations which we fixed with a short reading of postmodernism; and to analyze qualifications we attain by applying on religious life in Turkey. This contains a method from theory to practices. To construct a theory of current religious life and practice in postmodern context is an other face of our duty we have to do. We try to take in hand this second dimension in this article.
