The Counselor of Mashihat Ibrahim Hakki Efendi of Egin and His Treatise on The Science of Wad

The utterances are symbols denoting meanings that exist in the mind or in the world. The methodological and philosophical investigation of the utterances being attached to meanings constitutes the scope of the science of wad . Especially after Adududdîn Al-îjî (d. 756/1355) many works on the science of wad came into light mostly in the form of treatise. One of them is the treatise of Ibrahim Hakkı Effendi of Eğin (1247-1311/1831-1894), the counselor of Mashihat and a mudarris (professor) of Bayazid Mosque. In this treatise, Ibrahim Hakkı Effendi deals with the fundamental issues of the science of wad in an extremely systemic and concise way. In this article, the focus of which is on the textual criticism (critical edition) of the treatise of Ibrahim Hakkı Effendi on the science of wad , I will introduce up the treatise in its various dimensions and then will present its annotated version.
