Abstract :
The purpose of this research work was to prepare,develop and evaluate controlled release transdermal delivery of metronidazole with various hydrophillic polymers including: poly vinyl alcohol (PVA), carbopol 940 and hydroxy ethyl cellulose (HEC) by solvent casting technique.These polymers were loaded with antimicrobial metronidazole against some types of microbial isolates including Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Candida albicans and Trichophyton sp. (which from were isolated from dermatological diseases) in comparison with activity of metronidazole alone in different concentrations and periods. The activity of polymer as film alone was studied against these pathogenic isolates we showed that it has no activity against all isolates.while metronidazole alone and it is loaded with polymer as bioadhesive film were have a good effect against all isolates.
