Determining recreation potential of coastal band of Samsun city according to Gülez’s the assessment of open-air recreational potential method

In this study, it is aimed to determine the recreation potential in which sea coastline constitutes the most important recreational area of the city located in Samsun on the Black Sea coast of Turkey. In order to determine the recreation potential in the study area, was used Gülez s method of determining outdoor recreation potential. This method is mainly based on the determination of landscape value, climate, accessibility, recreational convenience and negative factors of the study area and their scoring. In the study, is used to climatic data of General Directorate of Meteorology and the population data of Turkey Statistics Institute and data obtained from field studies. According to the study findings, coastline of Samsun city has very high recreation potential. However, it has also been determined that the elimination of the negative factors that adversely affect the recreation potential and some of the wrong practices from the past are important in terms of preserving and improving the high recreation potential.
