Investigating the Role of Electronic Devices in Banking Costs

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the role of electronic payment and payment instruments on bank cost over the period 1999-2020 using the Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) approach. In this study, considering the information of private and public banks in the country, the effect of using electronic banking and the spread of electronic tools on banking costs was investigated. The results of the shock from the electronic banking index in order to measure the effects of the expansion of the use of electronic payment and payment instruments on operating costs can be seen that non-governmental banks have significantly higher operating costs than stateowned banks. The results obtained from the shocks in the area of e-banking index indicate that e-banking indices have a significant effect on bank costs.
