Abstract :
Speeds of sound and density of the mixtures were measured in the binary mixtures of 2-methoxy ethanol (2-ME) with selected amines (diethylamine (DEA), triethylamine (TEA), and tert-butylamine (TBA)) at 298.15, 303.15, 308.15, and 313.15 K at 0.1 MPa. We used the
measured data to calculatethe excess speeds of sound, uE , excess molar isentropic compressibility, and E Ks,m.The computed quantities
were fitted to the Redlich-Kister polynomial equation to derive the coefficients and estimate the standard error values. The excess speed of
sound values varried from 18.41 ms-1 to 45.06 ms-1, and the excess molar compressibility was in the range of -1.0270 1014 to -0.4070 1014 m5 N-1 mol-1, for all considered systems. The excess partial molar volume and isentropic compressibility of the constituents at infinite
dilution were also calculated. According to our results, strong interactions were found between the selected alcohol and the molecules of aliphatic amines.
