Abstract :
Women education and empowerment is crucial for the development of a society. There has been considerable rise of higher education in India during the last few years in terms of institutional growth and students’ enrollment. In spite of the large number of higher educational institutions in India, women record lower presence across most institutions of higher education as compared to men. The participation of woman in higher education ensures both social and economic development of the society. No society has liberated itself economically, politically or socially without sound base of educated women. Women education includes equitable and increased access to technical and vocational education, higher education and research with due attention to quality assurance. In this paper a picture of women’s access to higher education has been presented by the authors. The participation and enrolment have been studied for the years 2011-2019.
