Abstract :
The aim of this research is to determine the leisure time attitudes and organizational commitment of students who are members of student communities. The population of the research consists of student communities of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, and the sample consists of 362 member students who participate in the study voluntarily. “The Personal Information Form”, “Leisure Attitude Scale” which was adapted into Turkish by Akgül and Gürbüz (2011) and Organizational Commitment Scale” which was adapted into Turkish by Ergün and Çelik (2019) were used as data collection tools. In the study, the t-test was used to determine the difference between the two independent variables and One-Way ANOVA to determine the difference between more than two variables. In addition, the correlation test was used to determine the relationship between the variables. The findings of the study showed that women had higher cognitive attitude sub-dimension scores than men. The “cognitive attitude” sub-dimension score of the students studying in the field of health sciences was higher than the students studying in the sciences. It was observed that the “forced commitment” of the male members participating in the research was higher than the female members. Positive relationships were found among the cognitive, affective, and behavioural attitudes of the member students towards leisure and their calculative and moral commitment. In addition, a negative relationship was found in the cognitive and affective sub-dimension and the alienative commitment sub-dimension. As a result, it can be said that the awareness of the students participating in the student communities about leisure time increased during the university education and training period, and it contributes to their encouragement towards personal development, socialization, and volunteering activities.
