Abstract :
Academic research on disabled individuals are often concerned with wide range of health, shelter, education problems but mostly conducted ignoring gender as an index in study groups. However, disabled women in a patriarchic society are often face more problems both on the account of their disability and also due to their gender. Seen as weak, desperate and child-like individuals in need of pity and assistance, disabled women face a lot more problems when it comes to pregnancy. Midwifes here play important role in hurdling the obstacles these individuals might face during their pregnancy and also handling their health-related issues. In this survey article, problems and difficulties of pregnancy in disabled individuals and, solutions that can be offered by the midwifes has been discussed based on academic articles published between from 1991 to 2019.
