Abstract :
The aim of this comparative research was the study of teacher recruitment and supply methods in Iran and Malaysia. Bereday’s four-step method was used to analyze the data and strategy of country’s selection was different social systems, different educational output . The method of data collection was documentary (library) using scientific articles and international databases such as UNESCO and Ministry of Education’s homepage of selected countries. The findings indicated that the most similarities between Malaysia and Iran are availability of minimum educational qualification to enter the teaching profession, interviewing candidates and length of the teacher training. Other finding showed that the main difference between the studied countries in teachers’ recruitment is related to recruitment and supply methods, academic performance of candidates in secondary school and scientific evaluation of teacher candidates after graduation. Based on the findings, it is suggested to the policy makers and educational planners of Iran to use the capacity of all universities and higher education institutions to recruit teachers for primary and secondary education schools by adopting a collaborative approach.
